Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, held discussions with Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Fumio Iwai, regarding ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector and facilitate trade and exports between the two countries.

Farouk reiterated Egypt's commitment to fostering partnerships with the private sector and invited Japanese companies to broaden their investments in Egypt’s agricultural industry. He highlighted promising opportunities within key national development projects, particularly the New Delta project.

The minister also emphasized the need to increase Egyptian agricultural exports to the Japanese market, such as frozen strawberries and grapes. He stressed the importance of utilizing Japanese expertise and advanced agricultural technology to support the development of the sector.

In turn, Ambassador Iwai noted that Egypt currently supplies nearly 40% of Japan's frozen strawberry imports, reflecting the growing cooperation between the two nations in agriculture and food-processing investments.
