Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed strengthening bilateral relations and key regional developments during a phone call on Wednesday with Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
According to a statement, Abdelatty welcomed the growing momentum in relations between Egypt and Italy, stressing Cairo's commitment to expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors, particularly in the fields of economy, investment and trade, with the aim of increasing bilateral trade and advancing shared interests.
The two ministers also reviewed regional issues of mutual concern, including the latest developments in the U.S.-Iran negotiating process.
They highlighted the importance of building on the momentum created by the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding to help establish sustainable arrangements that support regional de-escalation, enhance security and stability, and safeguard freedom of navigation in accordance with international law.
The call comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East and securing maritime routes vital to global trade.
