In a bid to attract more investments in the field of food security, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly discussed Thursday enhancing cooperation with a delegation of Italian companies at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
The Italian companies include Bonifiche Ferraresi, OCRIM, and the trade association Filiera Italia. The meeting was held in cooperation with the Egyptian Future Agency for Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade.
Dr. Ali El-Moselhi, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade; Michele Quaroni, the Italian Ambassador to Cairo; Khaled Salah, representing the Egyptian Future Agency for Sustainable Development; Federico Vecchione, CEO of the Italian company Bonifica Ferrarisi; Alberto Antolini, CEO of the "Ocrim" company, and Luigi Scordamaglia, President of the Trade Federation Filera Italia, along with a number of officials from the Italian Embassy in Cairo attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the strength of Egyptian-Italian relations at the political and economic levels and explained that the meeting is of great importance as it is concerned with the field of food security. The mutual benefit of the two countries in the fields of land reclamation, crop cultivation, and agricultural industrialization was also discussed.
Madbouly expressed admiration for the advanced technologies employed by the Italian side, which can bring substantial benefits to land reclamation projects. He noted that the reclaimed area will guarantee food security for Egypt in the next few years and informed that the government plans to add around 3 million agricultural acres in the coming years. Premier further mentioned that his government has reclaimed vast areas of lands to achieve food security.
