The Ministry of Finance has released 3 commemorative medals portraying the three legendary popes of the modern Coptic Church era during the past 50 years, including Pope Cyril VI, Pope Shenouda III and current Pope of Alexandria Tawadros II.
Earlier this month, Coptic Church officials and government representatives in Egypt have agreed to issue commemorative medals to mark the 50th death anniversary of Pope Cyril VI.
The medal of Pope Cyril VI has a picture of Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral located in Abbassia District in Cairo.
On the other hand, Pope Tawadros medal marks the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ established in the New Administrative Capital and considered to be the largest church in the Middle East.
Further, the medal of Pope Shenouda marks the papal headquarters.
In the same context, Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, revealed that the Egyptian authorities spare no effort in documenting Egypt's political, economic, and religious memories through the unique designs of commemorative medals.
Furthermore, Maait indicated that these medals contribute to raising awareness and preserving the national identity of the Egyptians.
