Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo’s pride in the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties with Iraq and stressed Egypt’s commitment to building on current momentum to advance bilateral cooperation across various fields, in a way that serves mutual interests and supports development and stability.

The remarks came during a phone call between Abdelatty—also minister of emigration and Egyptian expatriates’ affairs—and Ammar al-Hakim, head of Iraq’s National State Forces Alliance. The two sides discussed ways to support and enhance relations between Egypt and Iraq, underscoring the importance of elevating partnership tracks in line with shared priorities.

The call also addressed a range of regional issues of mutual concern. Abdelatty emphasized the need for continued consultation and coordination amid rapidly evolving developments in the region, highlighting efforts to de-escalate tensions and bolster regional security and stability.

Both sides agreed that closer coordination would contribute to safeguarding the interests of the region’s peoples and help realize their aspirations for development and prosperity.
