On Saturday, Egypt's Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli chaired expanded talks in Cairo between the Egyptian and Iraqi sides, including, a number of ministers and senior officials of both countries.
The talks come within the framework of recent fruitful visit paid by the Egyptian prime minister, heading a ministerial delegation, to Baghdad to attend the meetings of the Joint High Committee.
At the talks outset, Madbouli welcomed the Iraqi ministerial delegation, stressing the importance of making all possible efforts for Promoting joint action and activating all aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister indicated that a tripartite summit is scheduled to be held between Egypt, Iraq and Jordan presidents during the first quarter of next year.
He added that the summit aims to announce the implementation of a package of joint projects among the three countries, stressing the importance of urgently developing implementation mechanisms; so that preparations for the next tripartite summit can be completed.
On August 25, 2020, the trilateral summit was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan King Abdullah II, and Iraq's Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
“The summit focused on ways to enhance joint trilateral cooperation in various fields between the three countries, notably those pertaining to energy, electricity interconnection, infrastructure, and food. It also tackled consultations and coordination on the latest political and security situations in the region and efforts to combat terrorism,” said the Egyptian presidency in a statement.
