Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone conversation on October 26 with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, to discuss the unfolding developments in the Middle East, with a focus on the escalating Israeli aggression against Iran.

During the call, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s strong condemnation of unilateral and provocative actions threatening regional stability and exacerbating tensions.

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of de-escalation and urged all parties to take constructive steps to promote calm, warning against dragging the region into a broader conflict that could have devastating consequences for its people.

The Egyptian minister also outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts, in coordination with Qatar and the United States, to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. The initiative aims to ensure the unimpeded entry of humanitarian and medical aid into the Gaza Strip and secure the release of hostages and detainees.

Discussions also covered the situation in Lebanon, where Abdelatty stressed Egypt’s principled stance on supporting Lebanese state institutions. He reiterated the necessity of electing a consensual president without external interference, in line with Lebanon’s sovereign decision-making process.
