Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, held a meeting today, Saturday, with Abbas Araqchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of their participation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting hosted by Istanbul.
Abdel Atty reviewed the intensive contacts he has conducted in recent days, which are pushing for de-escalation and a ceasefire. He also highlighted the importance of resorting to diplomatic and political means to reach a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program, contain the escalating situation, and mitigate the risk of further inflaming of the situation in the region.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister reviewed the content and results of the talks he held in Geneva yesterday, June 20, with the foreign ministers of the European Troika (Britain, France, and Germany) and the European Union's foreign policy chief regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.
The two ministers agreed to continue contacts and consultations to reach a solution to the current crisis to preserve the security and stability of the region.
