Egypt is stepping up its diplomatic outreach across Africa ahead of a series of high-profile continental events, with Egyptian Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire Sherif Seif holding talks with Ivorian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nialé Kaba on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing political coordination between the two countries.

During the meeting in Abidjan, Ambassador Seif discussed Kaba’s potential participation in the upcoming African Union Mid-Year Coordination Summit, known as “Alamein Africa,” as well as the New Alamein Economic Forum, both scheduled to take place later this month in Egypt’s New Alamein City.

The discussions form part of Egypt’s broader efforts to deepen engagement with African partners and strengthen economic and political cooperation across the continent.

The two officials reviewed avenues for expanding Egypt-Ivorian relations, with particular emphasis on advancing political consultations and enhancing institutional cooperation between the two governments.

Both sides expressed their aspiration to convene the fourth round of Egyptian-Ivorian political consultations, expected to be chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries in Côte d’Ivoire later this year.

The planned consultations are intended to reinforce coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern while providing a framework for expanding cooperation in political, economic, and development sectors.

Economic cooperation also featured prominently in the talks, with discussions focusing on the organization of an Egyptian-Ivorian Business Forum in Abidjan.

Officials view the proposed forum as an important platform for connecting business communities in both countries, identifying new investment opportunities, and promoting trade partnerships across a range of sectors.

The initiative reflects growing interest in strengthening economic ties between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire, two of Africa’s largest and most dynamic economies.

On her part, Foreign Minister Nialé Kaba emphasized the importance of advancing political cooperation between the two nations and praised the longstanding relationship between Cairo and Abidjan.

She underscored the value of sustained political dialogue and coordination, noting that closer engagement would help serve the strategic interests of both countries while contributing to broader African cooperation and integration efforts.

The meeting comes as Egypt prepares to host a number of significant African political and economic events in New Alamein later this month, bringing together government officials, policymakers, investors, and business leaders from across the continent.

Egyptian officials hope the gatherings will provide a platform to advance discussions on regional integration, economic development, investment, and intra-African cooperation, while further strengthening Egypt’s role as a key partner in shaping Africa’s development agenda.

Diplomatic observers see the growing engagement between Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire as part of a broader trend toward deeper political coordination and economic collaboration among leading African nations seeking to accelerate continental growth and strengthen collective responses to shared challenges.
