This morning, Egypt's Ministry of Interior called on all citizens to adhere to the precautionary measures taken by state agencies to limit the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

In an official statement, the ministry indicated that, starting from today 5/30/2020, the necessary legal measures will be taken against drivers of all types of taxis (inside cities and between governorates) in case any passenger is noticed not wearing the face mask inside the car.

In this regard, officials will regard drivers responsible for passengers safety and that they should make sure that every one on board wears a face mask.

Mean while, certain places would oblige visitors to wear face masks according to government instructions.

Those places are: markets, shops, government facilities, private facilities, banks, and public and private transportation.

Wearing the masks will be compulsary in these places, whether for employees or those who visit them, while anyone who violates the decision will be punished with a fine of four thousand Egyptian pounds.

Sources indicated that those who monitor or impose fines for not wearing the mask, are the police, the judicial officials in government agencies, and metro workers.

The sources pointed out that banks and government agencies will also not allow any one to enter except with face masks put on.

The sources pointed out that this decision comes in light of taking the precautionary measures that Egypt seeks to limit the spread of the Corona virus and work to protect citizens.

The Egyptian government implements a number of precautionary and protective measures including re-imposing the curfew from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, starting from today, Saturday, May 30, to prevent the spread of the Corona pandemic.

Wearing face masks has been set as an important measure in many countries to contain the spread of the virus among people.
