Egypt's Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, is closely monitoring nationwide efforts to prevent and remove illegal construction on agricultural land during the Eid al-Adha holiday, the ministry said in a statement.
The minister is overseeing land protection operations aimed at combating encroachments resulting from unplanned urban expansion on fertile farmland, a longstanding challenge facing Egypt's agricultural sector.
Farouk affairmed the importance of maintaining vigilance throughout the holiday period, directing engineers and supervisors responsible for protecting agricultural land to continue their work without interruption.
According to the ministry, the minister ordered the intensification of inspection campaigns and continuous field patrols to detect violations and remove them immediately before they become established.
He also emphasized that individuals found violating land protection regulations would be referred to the relevant authorities for legal action in accordance with applicable laws.
The Ministry of Agriculture said its monitoring teams remain on alert across the country to respond swiftly to any attempts to build illegally on agricultural land during the holiday, as part of broader government efforts to preserve arable land and safeguard food security.
Egypt has repeatedly stepped up enforcement measures in recent years to curb unauthorized construction on farmland, viewing the protection of agricultural land as a key component of sustainable development and national food security strategies.
