Egypt Increases Hotels, Entertainment Venues Occupancy Rate to 70%

The Egyptian cabinet agreed on Sunday to increase the occupancy rate in hotels, and entertainment venues, including cinemas, theaters, restaurants and cafes.

The cabinet agreed to increase the occupancy rate in tourist hotels, and other services sectors with a capacity of up to 70% instead of the earlier 50%.

The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired on Sunday the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the coronavirus crisis, in the presence of a number of ministers and officials to discuss the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health reviewed a report on the latest developments of the pandemic at the governorate level, the rate of change in the number of weekly cases, occupancy rates for isolation hospital beds, and the global situation of the virus according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

After the review, the governments decided to increase the occupancy rate in hotels, cinemas, theaters, restaurants and cafes to 70% after the country was able to curb the deadly virus and ease precautionary measures.

On her part, Zayed reviewed the “Saving Lives and Livelihoods” initiative within the framework of the partnership between the African Center for Disease Control and Epidemiology (ACDC) of the African Union and the MasterCard Foundation, under which the Foundation will provide $1.3 billion over the next three years in partnership with the Center to accelerate the dissemination of Vaccines in Africa.
