Mohamed El Quseir, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation discussed with the new Hungarian ambassador in Cairo András Imre Kovács, prospects for agricultural cooperation.
El Quseir said in a statement issued on Thursday that the ministry has the desire to expand cooperation frameworks in the field of fish farming, animal and poultry production with its Hungarian counterpart
He added Egypt achieved self-sufficiency in poultry, and the world's third largest country in terms of tilapia production, with the aim to export surplus abroad.
He pointed to the Ministry's desire to cooperate in the field of seed production, exchange of the germplasm of corn and some varieties of vegetables, and in the field of agricultural research.

On his part, Kovács pointed out to the possibility of cooperation in the field of modern irrigation and related activities, production of vegetable seeds, exchange of germplasm and sugar beet, as Hungary has the largest bank to preserve the germplasm of beet varieties with about 7,300 varieties.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to form a working group to discuss ways of cooperation and develop a working mechanism to implement future plans.
