Egypt Hosts EGYPES 2025: Major Energy Agreements Expected with Cyprus

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, has announced the launch of the 8th edition of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. 

The event, running from February 17 to 19, carries the theme "Building a Secure and Sustainable Energy Future."

A key highlight of this year’s edition is the participation of Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, who will attend at the invitation of President El-Sisi. 

During the event, Egypt and Cyprus are set to sign significant agreements aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the natural gas sector. These agreements align with Egypt’s strategic role as a regional energy hub, leveraging its infrastructure to process and export Cypriot gas, generating economic benefits for both nations and global energy investors.

Speaking at a press conference at the ministry’s headquarters in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, Minister Badawi emphasized the unique nature of this year’s event. He highlighted the increased participation of various government ministries, showcasing the integrated approach between Egypt’s petroleum and electricity sectors.

A key feature of the conference will be a high-level roundtable discussion chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly on the second day of the event. The session will include Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat and leading global energy companies. Minister Badawi noted that EGYPES 2025 will provide a comprehensive outlook on all energy resources, promoting collaboration between the petroleum and electricity sectors to develop Egypt’s optimal energy mix.

Moreover, the minister revealed that several agreements on energy efficiency and renewable energy will be signed during the conference, reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to sustainability and resource conservation.

Salman Abou Hamza, Senior Vice President of Energy at dmg events, the conference organizer, underscored the significance of EGYPES 2025 as a leading global platform for energy discussions and industry advancement. "Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and hosted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, EGYPES 2025 will be a key forum for driving a just and equitable energy transition," he said.

The opening ceremony will welcome President El-Sisi alongside President Christodoulides, where they will discuss enhancing cooperation and growth in the Eastern Mediterranean energy sector."By reinforcing Egypt’s position as a regional energy hub, the event will bring together leaders, decision-makers, and innovators to unlock investment opportunities, accelerate technological progress, and shape the future of the energy industry," added Abou Hamza.

In a related development, the EGYPES 2025 executive committee convened today, led by Minister Karim Badawi and attended by senior officials from the petroleum sector and representatives of major sponsoring companies. 

The meeting reviewed the final preparations for the highly anticipated event, which is expected to attract top industry figures from around the world.

With its focus on energy security, sustainability, and international cooperation, EGYPES 2025 is set to be a landmark event in shaping the future of the global energy industry.
