Egypt is hosting a delegation of Sudan Revolutionary Front’s (SDF) leaders as part of Cairo’s efforts to follow up the political developments in the neighbor country.

The delegation is planned to include some of the front's figures like Mona Arcua Minnawi, Gibril Ibrahim, Malek Aqqar, Yasser Erman, and Al Hadi Idri.

The SRF is one of the Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) alliance of Sudan.

Earlier this week, Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the opposition Freedom and Change Alliance signed an agreement on the constitutional declaration that organizes the work of the transitional government.

Protest leader Ahmed Rabie and the deputy head of the ruling TMC General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo signed the declaration at a ceremony attended by African Union and Ethiopian mediators

The two sides will put their final signatures on the constitutional declaration on August 17 in front of foreign dignitaries.

The following day, the generals and protest leaders are expected to announce the composition of the new transitional civilian-majority ruling council.

Ethiopian mediator Mahmoud Drir said the agreement "establishes a civilian and democratic rule that seeks to build a state of law, a state of equality, a state which does not marginalize its citizens".

A new prime minister will be named on August 20 and a cabinet on August 28, sources familiar with the negotiations said. The cabinet and the sovereign council will meet together on September 1.

Egypt hosted the sixth meeting of the Egyptian-Sudanese Military Committee on July 14-18 under the chairmanship of the chiefs of staff of both countries' Armed Forces.

Since the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11, 2019, the interim military council has ruled the country, saying that its ruling could last for 2 years until a new democratic government will be elected.
