Egypt is set to be the first country in the Middle East to host FAB Conference, which is considered the largest and flagship digital fabrication event.

The conference will be held in two cities in Egypt including the Red Sea city of El Gouna and Cairo during the period between 28th of July to the 2nd of August.

The event will include makers and members from over 1,700 Fab Labs worldwide to share, discuss, and collaborate in the capacities of digital manufacturing, innovation, and technology as it happens annually in a different country.

It also will witness the holding of exhibits, a long list of keynote speakers, and additional activities including fab festival, fab lab tours, and the event closing ceremony that will take place in Cairo on the 3rd and 4th of August.

Fab15 conference focuses this year on four different tracks including entrepreneurship for growth, Towards 4.0, making to learn, and design for change.

Building on its reputation as one of the leading outsourcing destination worldwide, Egypt has an ambitious plan that aims at transforming the country into a telecom and tech hub on both a regional and global scale. As such, the government is focusing on new initiatives such as electronics design and manufacturing, as well as providing a full-fledge support to the country’s burgeoning tech start-up industry.

It is noteworthy that Fab Lab Egypt is a community-run public makerspace and digital fabrication lab where anyone in the community from young children to students, entrepreneurs and businesses can get together to share knowledge, and collaborate on projects and hands-on activities.

It gives everyone the capability to turn their ideas and concepts into reality and to make “almost anything”. We share our machines, tools, skills, resources and ideas with the community to create new opportunities for economic and social benefit.
