Egypt has participated in the 12th Atom Expo 2022 Forum, held in Sochi, Russia, under the theme "Nuclear Spring: Creating a Sustainable Future".

With the participation of many major companies, nuclear energy authorities, civil society institutions, economists, and leading energy experts from over 50 countries, the global Forum primarily aims at emphasizing the importance of nuclear energy access as a means of promoting development.

The Forum also highlighted the importance of nuclear energy technology in solving many global problems like climate change and global warming, especially among developing countries, which have begun to show an interest in this clean energy.

Egypt's participation in Atom Expo's roundtable— moderated by Larisa Yefremova, Vice President of the Friendship University and attended by Gabriel Kochovo, Executive Director of the AnchorFuz Foundation— came after Moscow and Cairo signed an agreement on building the first nuclear power plant in Egypt at Dabaa.

In his remarks, the Cultural Counsellor of the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow, Dr. Mohamed El-Sirgany, highlighted his counter's keenness to establish new universities with adequate provision of capabilities, which allow young Egyptian cadres to study nuclear energy and meet the state's needs in this field.

El-Sirgany affirmed the need for enhancing cooperation mechanisms between the Egyptian and Russian sides to develop and qualify scientific staff in the specializations required in the coming stages.

It's worth mentioning that the organizing committee and the participating delegations praised the climate conference recently held in Sharm El-Sheikh, affirming the importance of the event and motivating the countries of the world to take effective actions to preserve the climate.
