On Thursday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that Egypt and Greece has signed an agreement on setting up an exclusive economic zone between the two countries.

In a joint press conference with his Greek counterpart, Shoukry said that the agreement aims to enable Egypt and Greece to maximize the benefit from the great natural resources in the exclusive economic zone of both countries.

He added that the signing of the deal came after rounds of negotiations between Egypt and Greece, confirming that they have fully coordinated over all regional and international files of mutual interest.

The Egyptian top diplomat pointed out that the agreement comes within the framework of preserving oil and gas reserves, which is a promising trade, as it also opens new horizons for more regional energy cooperation in light of the two countries' membership in the East Mediterranean Gas Forum.
