Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a telephone call with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis on Monday, 27 July, to discuss bilateral cooperation and the latest regional developments.
The call was part of continued coordination between Egypt and Greece aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership and exchanging views on regional issues.
The two ministers welcomed the growing momentum in Egyptian-Greek relations across several sectors. They expressed their commitment to building on the results of recent high-level visits and official contacts to expand political and economic cooperation and advance the shared interests of both countries.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s appreciation for Greece’s support within the institutions of the European Union. He also welcomed the role of the trilateral cooperation mechanism involving Egypt, Greece and Cyprus in strengthening relations among the three Mediterranean countries.
The Egyptian minister called for further cooperation in trade, investment and other economic sectors, as well as broader trilateral coordination in areas of common interest.
The talks also addressed rapidly changing regional developments and rising tensions across the region. Abdelatty briefed his Greek counterpart on Egypt’s intensive diplomatic contacts and efforts to promote calm and prevent further escalation.
He reiterated Egypt’s support for resolving the current crisis through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful means, saying such efforts were necessary to contain growing tensions and protect regional security and stability.
The two ministers agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination under the strategic partnership between Egypt and Greece. They also reaffirmed their support for regional and international efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation.
