Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the state seeks to support the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, noting that it is cognizant of the importance of digital transformation.
In a statement, Madbouli said that his government is keen to proceed with executing the projects aimed at developing the ICT sector, for being a key pillar for upgrading other sectors.
Madbouli made these remarks during his meeting on Thursday with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to follow up on the progress made in implementing a number of ICT projects.
In turn, Talaat said Egyptian technology startups were ranked first in terms of the number of venture capital (VC) deals in the Middle East and North Africa.
The minister highlighted his ministry's efforts to increase digital services exports, through seeking to open up new markets and working to lure further foreign investments in technology start-ups.
He also briefed the prime minister on the proposals to implement Egypt's first digital city project, which aims to enhance the country's digital services' exports and raise the number of workers in this vital sector.
