Egypt, Germany Discuss Enhancing Co-op, Upcoming Gaza Recovery Conference

Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Expatriate Affairs, received, on Monday, a phone call from Svenja Schulze, German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development.

​Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Abdelatty valued the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Germany on various levels, praising the constructive role played by Germany in supporting development projects in Egypt.

​He expressed the aspiration to enhance the partnership with Germany in various fields, including energy, managed migration and labor mobility, vocational training, and cooperation in Africa, in addition to cooperation in the economic, commercial, and investment fields, taking into consideration the economic reforms undertaken by Egypt to prepare the business environment and attract foreign investments.

​Furthermore, he expressed anticipation for the convening of Governmental Negotiations between the two countries on development cooperation, highlighting the importance of the Debt Swap Agreements track between the two countries, especially as these agreements contribute to supporting development efforts in the Egyptian state. 

Abdelatty also appreciated Germany's support for Egypt within the European Union, discussing the outcomes of the Egyptian-European Summit held on October 22nd in Brussels.

​The two sides touched upon the ongoing arrangements for Egypt's hosting of the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction during November. 

FM explained that the conference will represent an important step to unify international efforts to support the Palestinian people, meet their needs, and contribute to reconstruction according to the Arab-Islamic Plan and US President Donald Trump's Peace Plan for the Middle East. 

Moreover, he expressed the aspiration for effective German participation in the conference as a co-hosting party, alongside regional and international partners, to end the catastrophic humanitarian situation within the Strip, stressing the necessity for the international community to fulfill its humanitarian and moral role to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
