President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call, on Saturday, from Gambian President Adama Barrow.
Mohamed El-Shennawy, official presidential spokesperson, stated that the call addressed the trajectory of bilateral relations between Egypt and Gambia and ways to enhance them, particularly as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Sisi emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and coordination on various issues of mutual interest.
Moreover, both leaders agreed to advance bilateral relations across all fields, especially in the economic, developmental, and educational sectors.
The call also touched upon prospects for boosting trade exchange and facilitating private sector participation in economic and commercial cooperation.
Furthermore, they discussed opportunities for expanding the activities of Egyptian companies in Gambia, specifically in infrastructure and construction.
For his part, Gambian President expressed his appreciation for the existing cooperation in the health sector, praising the establishment of an Egyptian medical center in the capital, Banjul, and the support provided by Egypt in this regard.
The phone call also covered several regional issues, including the latest developments in West Africa and the Sahel region.
Moreover, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance in support of regional stability, stressing the need for concerted efforts to face challenges and end conflicts while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.
Sisi also reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to resolve various regional crises. Both presidents agreed to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism to contribute to maintaining regional security and stability.
