The joint air-naval military drill "Ramses 2019” between Egypt and France has kicked off today in the Mediterranean Sea, with the participation of members of Special Forces from the two countries, the Egyptian Army said in a statement on Tuesday.
The joint military drill will last for several days in Egypt, the statement added.
The statement pointed out that, French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, as well as Rafale fighter jets, will participate in the maneuvers.
On the Egyptian side, frigates, modern rocket launchers and members of the Egyptian naval Special Forces will be taking part in the maneuvers. A number of multi-function F-16 combat aircraft and Rafale fighter jets will also partake in the training.
The joint training aims to combat the challenges facing maritime security in the region and to secure the vital objectives in the Mediterranean Sea.
The military drill reflects the boosted military cooperation between Egypt and France, the statement concluded.
