Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, received, on Saturday, Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance strategic relations between the two friendly nations, alongside reviewing regional developments and mechanisms to reduce escalation in the area.
Both ministers praised the depth of bilateral ties, particularly following the elevation of relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership.
Moreover, they expressed their shared aspiration to upgrade cooperation across all sectors, with a specific emphasis on economic and trade fields.
Regarding regional issues, the two ministers reviewed the progress of the negotiating track between the United States and Iran. Minister Abdelatty emphasized the vital importance of supporting the negotiation process as the only viable path to reduce escalation and end the war.
He further stressed the necessity of maintaining freedom of navigation and addressing the security concerns of Arab Gulf states, while affirming Egypt’s condemnation of unjustified attacks on brotherly Arab nations.
The ministers also exchanged views on the developments of the Palestinian cause.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of implementing the requirements of the first phase of the American plan and initiating the second phase.
He also pointed out the necessity for the National Committee for Gaza Management to begin its duties from within the Gaza Strip and called for the rapid deployment of an international stability force.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the situation in Lebanon.
In this regard, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Lebanese state, condemning repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
Moreober, he stressed the need to preserve Lebanon's unity and territorial integrity while supporting its national institutions to fully assume their responsibilities in maintaining the country's security and stability.
For his part, French FM lauded the ongoing development of Egyptian-French relations across various fields.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the tireless efforts exerted by Egypt to contain regional escalation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to work jointly toward de-escalation and the promotion of security and stability in the region.
