Egypt is following up with great concern the escalation of tensions and border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have witnessed military clashes leaving casualties and injuries.

Egypt calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, and stresses the importance of making every possible diplomatic effort to achieve calm and defuse the crisis, in order to avoid sliding into further escalation.

Egypt emphasizes the importance of prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions to settle disputes, in order to preserve the security and stability of the region.

As part of ongoing efforts to monitor the rapidly evolving situation in the region and de-escalate tensions, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, had a phone call with Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, on Friday, February 27.

During the call, he received a detailed briefing from the Pakistani Minister on the current situation and recent developments.

Abdel-Atty expressed Egypt's deep concern over these developments and called for calm and restraint to help reduce tensions and prevent further escalation and instability in the region.
