Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed Egypt's deep concern over the accelerating and dangerous escalation in the region over the past 48 hours, following the Israeli forces' storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its assault on worshipers.
Egypt also concerned over the subsequent firing of missiles towards Israel, and strikes launched by Israeli air forces that targeted areas in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, amid the continuation of confrontations and violence in various forms.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and respond to the efforts exerted to stop bloodshed and protect lives, warning of the grave dangers looming over the region if the current wave of violence continued.
