Egypt's Permanent Representative to to the United Nations in New York, Osama Abdel Khalek, expressed concern over Israel's illegal and criminal war on the Gaza Strip for more than six months.
He made his remarks during his speech at the Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.
Abdel Khalek, Egypt's permanent representative to the UN in New York, expressed concern over Israel's illegal and criminal war on the Gaza Strip for more than six months.
He emphasized that the inability to stop this brutal war is a failure that is almost impossible to explain to all peace-loving peoples, including the Arab and Islamic peoples.
The Egyptian official also stressed that Israel's disregard for logic, the rules of justice, the United Nations Charter, and our legitimate demands, such as a ceasefire, has led to the current miserable situation in the Middle East.
"The region has reached the brink of the abyss, if not already crossed it, due to Israel's hostile behavior. The country has launched one attack after another on neighboring countries and even on diplomatic headquarters in violation of international law. This has led to a vicious circle of regional military escalation that is difficult to contain," Abdel Khaleq said.
This war has resulted in over 33,000 casualties and 75,000 injuries, including the deaths of over 175 United Nations employees and civilians. Additionally, Israel has continued to disregard binding resolutions issued by the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, and the International Court of Justice. This behavior puts the credibility of the United Nations and the entire system of maintaining international peace and security at risk.
