Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Gaber Abul-Wafa said on Wednesday that Egypt's exports to Tanzania saw a remarkable increase in the year 2018.

The volume of Egyptian exports to Tanzania doubled within a year from $ 24.02 million in 2017 to $ 42.23 million the subsequent one.

This came during the ambassador's four-day visit to Dar es Salaam along with an Egyptian delegation from the Export Council for Engineering Industries.

Abul-Wafa added that the trade balance between the two countries was in Egypt's favor $ 37.28 million.

"Bilateral relations between the two countries have strengthened in various sectors, particularly in trade, which recorded $ 47.19 million in 2018 from $ 25.41 million a year earlier," he noted.

Abu Al Wafa attributed the positive growth achieved in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to the successful visit of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to Dar es Salaam in August 2017 and to the outcomes of the third session of the Joint Committee for Cooperation in January 2018.

Moreover, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal's visit to the East African country has boosted relations and trade between Cairo and Dar es Salam.
