Egypt expects to receive the first €1.5 billion tranche of the European Union's remaining macro-financial assistance package within the coming days, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said on Saturday.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Egypt's New Administrative Capital alongside Dubravka Šuica, the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Abdelatty said the payment represents the first of two outstanding installments under the EU's €5 billion macro-financial assistance program.
The remaining €3 billion will be disbursed in two equal installments of €1.5 billion each, he said, adding that Egypt hopes to receive the final payment by the beginning of the autumn.
The European Union has already released €2 billion under the package, including an initial €1 billion disbursed in January 2025 and a second €1 billion transferred earlier this year.
The macro-financial assistance forms part of a broader €7.4 billion financial partnership announced by the European Union in 2024 to support Egypt's economic stability and reform agenda.
The wider package includes €5 billion in concessional macro-financial loans, alongside additional funding earmarked for investment, technical cooperation, and support across key sectors of the Egyptian economy.
The latest disbursement is expected to bolster Egypt's external financing position as the government continues implementing economic reforms aimed at strengthening fiscal stability, attracting foreign investment, and supporting long-term growth.
