The European Union has announced that the first-ever summit between Egypt and the EU will take place in Brussels on October 22, 2025, marking a new chapter in relations between Cairo and Brussels.

According to a statement from the European Council on Thursday, the summit will bring together President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, representing Egypt, with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, representing the EU.

The historic meeting will focus on bilateral relations and the deepening of political and economic cooperation under the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and the European Union. The aim, according to the statement, is to promote stability, peace, and shared prosperity.

Leaders are also expected to discuss pressing global challenges, including the conflict in the Middle East, the Russia-Ukraine war, issues of multilateralism, trade, migration, and security.

“Egypt is a strategic partner for the European Union. Our longstanding relations are rooted in shared history, geography, and culture, as well as strong ties between our peoples,” the statement read. It further emphasized the EU’s deep appreciation for Egypt’s role in regional stability and its mediation efforts in the Gaza conflict.

The European Council concluded that the upcoming summit would be “an excellent opportunity to strengthen our partnership, address shared challenges, and unlock the full potential of our relationship.”
