Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Dubravka Šuica, the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, as part of ongoing coordination to strengthen relations between Egypt and the European Union.

During the call, Abdelatty praised the significant progress in Egyptian-European relations, saying the first Egypt–EU summit held on 22 October provided strong momentum for joint cooperation. He stressed the importance of building on the summit’s outcomes, particularly the implementation of the six pillars of the strategic and comprehensive partnership between the two sides, and expressed Egypt’s desire to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Egyptian foreign minister also welcomed the launch of the Mediterranean Pact in late November, describing it as an important step toward deeper regional integration and addressing shared challenges. He highlighted the need to improve access for Egyptian exports to European markets, expand legal migration pathways, and better link migration policies to development while tackling the root causes of irregular migration. The two officials exchanged views on the pact’s action plan, with Abdelatty outlining Egypt’s vision and proposing several initiatives and projects.

Abdelatty briefed the EU official on regional developments and Egypt’s efforts to reduce tensions across the Middle East. Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, he reviewed Egypt’s role in advancing the next phase of the international plan for Gaza, stressing the importance of moving forward with arrangements that include the formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage daily affairs and the establishment of an international stabilization force.

He also underscored ongoing efforts to ensure the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian, medical and relief aid, while preparing conditions for early recovery and reconstruction. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection of any actions that could undermine Palestinian territorial unity or lead to the division of the Gaza Strip.

The call reflected continued Egypt–EU coordination on regional stability, Mediterranean cooperation and long-term development challenges.
