Badr Abdel Atty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received Eritrean Foreign Minister (FM) Osman Saleh in Cairo today, Saturday, to enhance bilateral relations between Egypt and the State of Eritrea.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Dr. Abdel Aty praised the strong ties between Egypt and Eritrea, highlighting President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's historic visit to Asmara on October 10, 2024. He expressed his aspiration to enhance existing frameworks of bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities across various fields.
During the meeting, Abdel Aty emphasized Egypt's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Eritrea and working together to achieve mutual benefits for both nations. He reiterated Egypt's dedication to supporting African causes, fostering security and stability, and promoting African solidarity.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in political, economic, and trade sectors, as well as joint efforts to support security and stability in the Horn of Africa.
The ministers also discussed regional issues of mutual concern, including the situation in Somalia, with a shared commitment to supporting Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
