Egypt drew with Gabon in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, snatching a valuable point from hosts despite continuing the game with only 10 players.

After the Pharaohs 1-0 first-round home win against Angola, Gabon hosted the Egyptian team for the qualifying second group stage match. The match witnessed the return of the "Egyptian King" Mo Salah, who missed the match with Angola due to COVID restrictions.

The first real attempt came by Gabon after it managed to score a first goal, but it was canceled due to offside.

Gabon's Jim Allevinah took advantage of the numerical advantage when he broke the tie with a clever shot from short distance in 21'.

Twenty minutes before the end of the game, Omar Gaber received a red card to hinder the Egyptian winning chances.

The coach of the Egyptian national team Hossam El-Badry decided to move forward, as he decided to use Mustafa Mohamed, Salah Mohsen and Abdullah Al-Saeed.

The substitutions proved their worth when Mostafa Mohamed hit Salah Mohsen's pass and scored the equalizer in 89', with a header.

The victory put Egypt at the top of Group F with four points from two matches, and the next confrontation for the Egyptians will be against its neighbor Libya on October 6.
