The Pakistani capital, Islamabad celebrated two important squash tournaments, CAS International for men, and Pakistan International for women.
Egyptians Mohamed El Sherbini, Ahmed Hosny, Shehab Essam, Mazen Gamal, Mostafa Assal, Karim Ali Fathi, Mohamed Reda, Youssef Soliman were the players who participated in the men’s competitions. Also, Kuwaiti Ammar Altamimi competed at the event.
Only the Pharaohs Assal and Soliman managed to reach the final and battled against each other in a match that lasted for 55 minutes.

Soliman took the first two games 8-11 and 7-11. Assal turned the tables and secured the following two games 11-2 and 11-1. It was the fifth game who would snatch the tournament’s blue-ribbon.

Moving to the women’s games, Egyptians were Sana Ibrahim, Farah Momen, and Farida Mohamed. The final took place between Mohamed and Swiss Cindy Merlo.
Mohamed took the opening game 11-8. Merlo did not surrender and took the second 9-11. However, the Pharaoh walked off with the last two 11-9 and 11-5.
Egyptian Champions at the British Junior Open
Worth noting is that Assal was crowned in 2018 the British Junior Open (BJO)’s BU17. Previously in 2014, 2012, 2011, his fellow citizens Soliman, Essam, Gamal picked up the same title, respectively.
Fathi took home the gold medals of the BJO’s BU13 and BU15 in 2006 and 2008. 2002 and 2006 saw Reda attaining the BU13 and the BU17’s first places.
