Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate talks with Saudi and Iranian officials to discuss the progress of ongoing US-Iran negotiations and efforts to reduce regional tensions amid rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East.
In a phone call on Saturday, Abdelatty spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud as part of continued coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia on regional issues.
The two ministers exchanged views on the course of US-Iran negotiations and broader regional developments, stressing the importance of de-escalation and avoiding any uncontrolled escalation that could threaten regional security and stability.
Both sides emphasised the need to intensify diplomatic efforts, affirming that dialogue and negotiations remain the only viable path to resolving outstanding disputes and preserving the security of the region and its peoples.
Separately, Abdelatty also held talks on Friday evening with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to follow up on the latest developments in negotiations between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi briefed the Egyptian minister on recent mediation efforts and the latest developments in talks aimed at reaching understandings between Tehran and Washington.
For his part, Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing the diplomatic track, calling for a breakthrough that could help lower tensions and prevent a wider regional conflict with serious implications for regional peace and stability.
