Egypt on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a mosque in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries, reaffirming its firm rejection of all forms of terrorism and extremism.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cairo denounced the assault “in the strongest terms,” expressing deep concern over the loss of innocent lives. Egypt reiterated its unwavering position in confronting terrorism, violence and radical ideologies that threaten the security and stability of societies worldwide.
The Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of intensifying international cooperation and unifying global efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms. It underscored the need to dry up the intellectual and financial sources that sustain extremist groups, emphasizing that such coordinated action is essential to strengthening international peace and security.
Egypt extended its heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to the government and people of Pakistan, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack. Cairo also affirmed its solidarity with Islamabad in confronting terrorism and safeguarding national stability.
The attack comes amid a surge in armed violence in Pakistan in recent months, with militants targeting places of worship, security installations and public gatherings. Over the past two years, the country has witnessed a renewed wave of violence, largely claimed by extremist groups exploiting security tensions along the Afghan border in addition to internal challenges.
