Egypt on Tuesday denounced a drone strike on Khartoum International Airport, calling it a violation of Sudan’s sovereignty and a threat to civilian infrastructure.
In a statement, the foreign ministry said the attack endangered civilian facilities, undermined Sudanese resources and risked further deterioration of the country’s security and humanitarian situation.
Cairo also expressed concern over what it described as an increase in attacks reportedly launched from a neighbouring country’s territory, warning the trend could widen the conflict and undermine efforts to secure a humanitarian truce.
Egypt reiterated its rejection of foreign interference in Sudan, stressing respect for its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity in line with international law and the UN Charter.
It said it supports regional and international efforts to reach a humanitarian ceasefire and launch a Sudanese-led political process without external intervention
