Egypt’s Ministry of Health has announced a state of maximum readiness across hospitals in North Sinai as part of preparations to receive Palestinian patients and wounded individuals from the Gaza Strip, following the official reopening of the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side.
The emergency plan includes frontline hospitals in Sheikh Zuweid, Al-Arish General Hospital, Bir Al-Abd, and Nekhel, which will serve as initial reception points. Second-line hospitals in the Canal cities have also been placed on alert, while critical and complex cases will be transferred to specialized hospitals in Cairo based on medical evaluations.
More than 12,000 doctors have been mobilized nationwide, along with 30 rapid response teams affiliated with the Ministry of Health. Authorities have also deployed between 250 and 300 fully equipped ambulances to support medical transport operations.
In addition, a ministerial medical committee has been stationed at the Rafah crossing to assess incoming cases and coordinate their distribution to appropriate healthcare facilities in the coming hours.
