Amani Al-Wasal Head of the Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed that the meeting of the Ministerial Group for Economic Development held on January 19, called for the necessity of banning the export of copper scrap in any form due to its importance to the local industry, especially in light of the severe scarcity and lack of supply and the significant increase in its prices locally and globally.
She added in her letter to the Customs Authority that the meeting held at the end of January at the General Authority for Industrial Development concluded with some recommendations, including the importance of tightening control over all customs outlets to ensure that no quantities of copper scrap and waste are smuggled out of the country, regarding the ban on the export of some types of scrap and raw materials, including copper.
