Egypt Constructs Flagpole Taller than Khufu Pyramid in NAC

Administrative Capital for Urban Development - (ACUD) Company is building the tallest flagpole in the world. Egypt received the first giant crane, the largest in the world, capable of carrying 1,200 tons, to be used in building the flagpole. Its height is set to be 191 meters.

According to project officials, the length of the flagpole will be taller than the Great Pyramid (138) meters.

Engineer Mohamed Ali, construction manager, said that the flagpole is built in a very special location, in the middle of (People’s Square).

The total weight of the flagpole is 1040 tons of iron; the length of the Egyptian flag will be 60 meters by 40 meters.

Commenting on receiving the giant crane, the head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Yahya Zaki said in a press statement that "the port's development operations received huge goods, as well as the largest ships and equipment used in national projects.

The tallest flagpole in the world so far is in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was inaugurated in 2014 in Jeddah. Its height is 170 meters.

The new administrative capital also includes the tallest tower in Africa, located in the capital's central business district, with an estimated height of 400 metres.

In addition, 20 towers are being constructed for various uses in the same area, with investments estimated at USD 3 billion.
