Egypt strongly condemned the twin suicide bombings, which took place earlier today Thursday, inside a crowded market in central Baghdad, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
In a statement, Foreign Ministry offered its deep condolences to the Iraqi government and people over the victims of this despicable terrorist act, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
Egypt reaffirmed its "support for Iraq's efforts to maintain security and stability and confront all forms of terrorism and extremism."
The death toll in the twin suicide attack rose to at least 28 dead, and 73 wounded, according to the Iraqi military.
Two suicide attackers blew themselves up, using explosive vests, inside a crowded market in Tayaran Square.
An interior ministry spokesman expected the death toll to rise, as some wounded are in critical condition.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
