Egypt condemned the terrorist attack on Iraq's Erbil International Airport on Wednesday, according to an official statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
"Cairo condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on Erbil International Airport yesterday evening," the statement read.
Egypt reaffirmed "vehement condemnation of these despicable terrorist acts," underlining confidence that it will not discourage brotherly Iraq from its relentless efforts in combating terrorism and reinforcing security and stability.
The Ministry's statement stressed Cairo's support for Iraq in the measures it takes to protect its security.
Erbil International Airport was hit by an explosive-laden drone on Wednesday night. No casualties were reported.
Earlier, the Kurdistan Region’s Counter Terrorism Unit said the airport had been hit by a rocket.
