On Wednesday, Egypt condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the new Yemeni cabinet members during their landing at Aden airport.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt reiterated its firm position on supporting and assisting Yemen in its struggle to restore security and stability, achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people, and confront all forms of terrorism.

It stressed that such despicable terrorist acts will not hinder the new Yemeni government from moving forward with its tasks to face the formidable challenges for reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Yemeni crisis, based on the Riyadh Agreement.

Egypt expressed its solidarity with Yemen, the government, and the people, in this painful affliction. It offered its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured people.

Earlier Wednesday, a powerful explosion rocked the Aden Airport shortly after a plane carrying the new Yemeni government landed on Wednesday, according to local sources.

According to eyewitnesses, the attack on the airport left many people killed and seriously injured. They added that members of the Yemeni government have not been injured in the attack.

Initial reports indicate that a drone was used in the attack on Aden airport, injuring at least 20 people.
