The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Wednesday evening condemning in the strongest terms the recent Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, which constitute a systematic escalation, a flagrant violation of international law, and a disregard for the United Nations Charter.
Egypt stressed that this Israeli approach exacerbates tension and conflict and constitutes a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
Obligating Israel to stop blatant violations
Egypt called on the international actors and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities in obligating Israel to halt these blatant violations and the need to put an end to them. It also stressed the importance of Israel's withdrawal from the Syrian territories it recently occupied in flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, as a prelude to achieving a full withdrawal from the Syrian territories occupied in 1967, considering the Golan Heights as occupied Syrian territory.
