Egypt has strongly condemned what it described as Israel’s escalating military operations against Lebanon, denouncing the expansion of ground incursions in southern Lebanese territory and warning of serious consequences for regional stability.

In an official statement, the Egyptian government said the latest developments constitute a grave violation of Lebanese sovereignty and represent a clear act of aggression aimed at imposing a new military reality on the ground. Cairo argued that such actions violate international law, established international norms, and the United Nations Charter.

Egypt reaffirmed its categorical rejection of any infringement on Lebanese territory and renewed its support for Lebanon’s unity, national institutions and territorial integrity. It called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from all Lebanese territory and urged the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 in all its provisions, enabling the Lebanese Armed Forces to exercise exclusive authority across the country.

Cairo warned that continued expansion of military operations could trigger a wider deterioration of the situation and further destabilise the region.

The statement also called on the UN Security Council and influential international actors to assume their responsibilities and act urgently to halt the Israeli offensive. Egypt cautioned that ongoing escalation risks fuelling greater chaos and instability at a time when regional and international parties are pursuing intensive diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
