Egypt strongly condemned the attempted drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia, after Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed three drones that entered the kingdom’s airspace on Sunday.
In an official statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Cairo’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and voiced support for all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of citizens and residents.
Egypt warned that such attacks represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability and undermines ongoing efforts to reduce tensions across the Middle East.
According to Saudi authorities, the drones entered Saudi airspace from Iraqi territory before being intercepted by air defense forces.
Major General Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, confirmed the successful destruction of the drones and stressed that the kingdom reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place.
He added that the Saudi armed forces remain fully prepared to confront any threat targeting the country’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
Egypt also emphasized that Gulf security remains a core component of Egyptian and Arab national security, stressing that attacks against Gulf states constitute a serious violation of international law and contribute to further regional instability.
Cairo called for an immediate halt to military escalation in the region and reiterated that dialogue and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path toward resolving ongoing crises threatening Middle East security.
