Egypt has strongly condemned the targeting of two Emirati oil tankers while they were passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Egypt said the attack represented a serious violation of international law and posed a direct threat to maritime security, freedom of navigation and global trade through one of the world’s most important waterways.
Egypt reiterated its complete rejection of all attacks targeting civilian vessels and facilities or threatening the safety of international shipping and global energy supplies.
It stressed the need for all parties to comply with international law and halt any actions that could intensify tensions or widen the scope of regional escalation.
Egypt also expressed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and affirmed its support for the country in confronting any threats to its security, interests and maritime assets.
