On Thursday, Egypt strongly condemned the shooting incident at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the city of The Hague, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said that it is following up on the circumstances of the cowardly attack, voicing confidence in the measures taken by the Dutch authorities to uncover the perpetrators.
It also affirmed Egypt's firm solidarity with the Kingdom against these terrorist acts, asserting its rights to preserve its security and safety of its citizens everywhere.
Earlier today, security personnel at the embassy informed Dutch security services as soon as the incident occurred and the embassy was cordoned off.
No one was injured during the incident and the Kingdom condemned the attack as “cowardly.”
Dutch police said on Thursday afternoon they had arrested a 40-year-old man from the town of Zoetermeer on suspicion of involvement in the shooting. The identity of the suspect, who was being held for questioning, was not released in line with Dutch privacy rules.
