The Egyptian Ministry of Industry announced on Saturday the completion of the first and second stage of Rubiky Leather Project with Investments worth EGP 500 Million.

Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry said that 28 factories are currently being established to produce glue within the first stage of the city's leather tanning project in Rubiky, with investments of EGP 200 million, in preparation for allocating them to 44 investors, as well 87 other units at a cost of EGP 300 million for the second phase.

On the sidelines of her visit to inspect the project today, she indicated that the cabinet recently approved the ministry's request regarding the approval of EGP 200 million within the first stage to rehabilitate the industrial drainage station in the city.

The first stage of the project will accommodate future expansions and keep pace with global environmental standards, noting that it has been completed with a total of 213 production units for 195 investors on an area of 176 feddans.

Gamea continued that the establishment of production units for leather tanning will be completed in the second stage of the project with a total of 87 units at a cost of EGP 300 million, noting that 69 feddans have also been attached to this stage of the project and will be launched during the coming period for the industries related to leather tanning.

The third stage of the project will be implemented on an area of 205 feddans and will be allocated to set up factories for the production of leather goods, especially in light of the Ministry's tendency to increase the added value of the final product and export finished products.

The Rubiky city aims to bring all leather tanneries, previously in Magra el-Oyoun, in one place to become an integrated city for leather, with the state bearing the cost of transferring.
