Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli witnessed on Friday the signing of five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Chinese companies in the field of communications and IT.
The MoUs aim to establish three factories for manufacturing optical fiber cables and communication equipment, as well as three outsourcing service centers creating 800 job opportunities in electronic circuit design, software development, research and development in optical networks, green technology, and semiconductors.
They also include the establishment of a $300 million technology investment fund, a data center, and four centers and labs for training and building the capabilities of more than 3,250 specialists.
The first MoU involves the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Wuhan Fiberhome International Technologies Company. While, the second MoU includes ITIDA, Tsinghua Unigroup.
Moreover, the third MoU involves cooperation between ITIDA and Huawei Egypt, while the fourth MoU included cooperation between ITIDA, the National Telecommunications Institute, and ZTE.
Finally, the fifth MoU involves cooperation between ITIDA, the National Telecommunications Institute, and Hengtong Group, with Telecom Egypt.
